Expo Freight at NCE Awards

“Quality is not an act, it is a habit.” – Aristotle

Expolanka Freight Limited, a subsidiary of the Expolanka Group, claimed two Gold awards at the National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) awards held in Colombo recently. These awards; the Gold in Most Outstanding Exporter – Service Providers to Exporters and Gold for Service Providers to Exporters ‘Extra Large Category’, were achieved for the second consecutive year by the company.

Jagath Pathirane, CEO of Expo Freight Limited, explained what this award meant for the company.

“We have been continuously winning awards at the prestigious NCE awards for the past four years. It is always a pleasure to be recognized for our commitment and high standards. This is a tribute to our contribution to the Sri Lankan export economy and our excellent service standards. We hope to continue to improve and innovate our services to suit the changing market conditions and needs.”

Launched in 1993, the National Chamber of Exporters has conducted the export awards continuously each year, serving to encourage, recognize, and reward the excellent performances of Sri Lankan exporters and service providers, acknowledging the vital contribution and service they have rendered in sustaining and expanding the economy of Sri Lanka.

The commitment to ongoing excellence by Expolanka Freight is evident in awards won over recent years. The company first gained recognition at the NCE awards in 2011 when it won the Bronze award, and then the Silver prize in the subsequent year. The commitment and high standards followed by Expo Freight helped them reach the top spot in 2013 and maintain it for this year as well. The company also won the ‘Logistics Company of the Year’ award at the recently concluded Sri Lanka Ports, Trade and Logistics Conference awards ceremony.

Expo Freight is part of a historical tradition of Sri Lanka as a leading trading hub. The geographic location of the country has made it a famed destination along the Silk Route, which enjoyed a history of over 15 centuries. Strategically located at the crossroads of both the east and west sea routes, Sri Lanka also serves as the entry point to South Asia. Currently, the island is being developed as a Global Logistics Hub, with the focus on multi-country consolidation, transhipment and regional distribution.

Expo Freight is regarded as one of the largest air and ocean freight forwarders in the region. Primarily focused on servicing the apparel industry as a fashion logistics specialist, the company also handles commodities, telecom supplies, medical equipment, project cargo and machinery. The holistic solutions offered by the company and the level of customer service has enabled Expo Freight to expand its operations across 16 countries in 4 continents.

Quality service drives Expo Freight Limited and has resulted in other notable achievements.  The company holds the ISO 9001:2008 certification, which is based on several quality management principles such as customer focus, continuous improvement, process approach and supplier relationships. The superior level of conduct of Expo Freight is not limited to their business solutions. The company also became the first CarbonNeutral freight and logistics company in Sri Lanka, signifying the importance Expo Freight places on a sustainable environment.
