Expolanka wins awards galore

Howard Schultz, the charismatic founder and CEO of Starbucks once said,

“In this ever-changing society, the most powerful and enduring brands are built from the heart. They are real and sustainable. Their foundations are stronger because they are built with the strength of the human spirit, not an ad campaign. The companies that last are those that are authentic.”

Looking at the world today, it is easy to see why brands are more important now than at any time in the past 100 years. Customers are increasingly connected, informed, and empowered; their expectations have escalated and they are more discerning and demanding than ever before. Today, it is essential for a company to develop brand loyalty, to stand out among the crowd and promote a special ideal.

Since its inception in 1978, Expolanka has established itself as a trusted, professional and a highly successful Sri Lankan conglomerate.  Customer service excellence, high business ethics and a committed workforce have endeared us to our stakeholders and we have been privileged to achieve excellent industry standing and reputation.

 SLIM Awards 2013

Expolanka’s brand building efforts were recently recognized at the SLIM Brand Excellence Awards when Expo Freight was awarded Bronze for the Export Brand of the year.

The SLIM Brand Excellence Awards is a celebration of brand excellence at national level and rewards the efforts of outstanding marketers.  Through this event, SLIM endeavors to not only encourage best practices in branding, but to also raise local brands to global standards. Each year the SLIM panel of judges evaluates the contenders for each category, looking for those elusive qualities which elevate a brand above the sea of nondescript products.

Head of Marketing, Corporate Communication & CSR Paddy Weerasekera hailed the SLIM award as an unequivocal endorsement of the company’s efforts in brand building activities.

“We’re proud to be recognized for the strength and value of the Expo Freight (EFL) Brand. This we attribute to our unmatched brand propositions; the quality of our service and the creation of greater value by constant investment”, he said.

LACP Awards 2013

Our marketing, communications and brand building team were further felicitated this year when Expolanka’s annual report for 2012/13 “TAGGED”, was awarded Gold at the Spotlight Awards Global Communications Competition hosted by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP). The LACP is a US forum within the public relations industry that facilitates discussion of best-in-class practices while also recognizing those who demonstrate exemplary communications capabilities.

This year’s Spotlight Awards Global Communications Competition drew one of the largest number of submissions ever, representing a broad range of industries and organizational sizes. To win gold in such a competitive environment was an exceptional achievement.

Christine Kennedy, the Managing Director of LACP said,

“This year’s entry for Expolanka Holdings PLC, “TAGGED”, proves to be remarkable in light of tremendous competition. Overall we find this work to be outstanding, earning a total score of 98 out of a maximum 100 points. With this strong performance, “TAGGED” has been recognized with a Gold Award within its competition class and ranked among the Top 100 in the world”.

Earlier in the year our annual report also won the prestigious ARC gold award in the non-traditional annual report category for conglomerates and another Gold award for Printing & Production in the same category from among a record-breaking 2,260 entries from 34 countries.
